If you are like me, you are a sucker for a good scoop of ice cream. As a child, I really only knew of Baskin Robbins and their boasted 31 flavors. They had a store in town where us little league players would gather after every game. If only a heaping scoop of peanut butter & chocolate ice cream would bring me back to those childhood memories. Unfortunately, something went wrong. Dropping the “31 flavors” tag and since co-branding with the donut monster, I just can’t quite feel the nostalgia of the small town ice cream parlor that I once knew. However, there is a solution. If you, friends or family are looking for the perfect scoop of ice cream, a great experience, and an abundance of fun & delicious flavors, Kimmer’s Ice Cream is a must try!
I was introduced to founder Kimberly Elam (now Kimberly Yates) roughly 10 years ago, and we’ve remained friends ever since. Kim opened up her first location along the Fox River in downtown Saint Charles and soon after had a following in the western suburbs. She began distributing her ice cream in various neighborhood stores including Standard Market in Westmont, Riverside Foods in Riverside and Casey’s in Naperville to name a few. Selling pints in these local boutiques wasn’t enough. Kim eventually opened a second store location in Wheaton and just recently opened the doors on her third location in downtown Elmhurst – 110 W. Park Ave, Elmhurst.
What makes Kimmer’s Ice Cream different? If you ask Kim, she’d probably say it’s the ingredients, creative flavors and overall quality of the product. If you ask anyone else, they’d say it’s Kim. Kim has a glowing smile and great personality that you’ll find in every scoop you try. Her tagline isn’t bragging about the number of flavors they have, it’s a representation of Kim’s passion for ice cream; “Homemade With Love”. Kim cares about the community and is constantly holding in-store events. She even created the Kimmer’s Kares Program to help the community raise money for various causes. Whether it’s store tours, pallet painting parties, Eat Ice Cream For Breakfast Day or your child’s next birthday party, Kim promotes tasting her ice cream with an experience.
